Microtech Ultratech Gen III ZBP T/E – 3.55″ M390MK Black Plain Edge Tanto Blade, Black Aluminum Handle – 1123-1T

The Microtech Ultratech has been the company’s flagship knife since 1999. The Gen III ZBP T/E Black Tactical is a USA-made double-action OTF with a 3.55″ black M390MK tanto blade, a black 6061-T6 aluminum handle, and an upgraded glass breaker.

M390MK is Microtech’s designation for its M390 powder-metallurgy stainless steel, known for strong edge retention and good corrosion resistance. In practice, that means a blade that stays sharp through long stretches of everyday cutting and resists rust with basic care. The tanto profile puts a strong, angled point on the blade. Microtech builds the Gen III with its Crud Kutter, Dual-Fuel Drive Train, and Zero Blade Play (ZBP) features, plus Torx screws throughout.

• Blade: 3.55″ M390MK tanto, black finish, plain edge. 8.54″ overall.
• Handle: Black 6061-T6 aluminum secured with Torx screws, with an upgraded glass breaker. 5″ closed.
• Deployment + Lock: Double-action out-the-front (OTF) automatic. The thumb slide both deploys and retracts the blade.
• Carry: Pocket clip for tip-down carry. Knife only; no sheath included.

Ideal for: OTF collectors who want Microtech’s flagship in an all-black tanto; experienced automatic-knife owners looking for a full-size double-action OTF; and buyers who prefer a USA-made automatic.

Glass breaker: Laws on knives with glass breakers and similar tools vary. Check your local laws and use this tool lawfully.

⚠️ Automatic knife notice: Federal, state, and local laws restrict the purchase, carry, and transport of automatic knives, including OTF knives. Microtech Ultratech Gen III ZBP Tanto: Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about the Microtech Ultratech Gen III ZBP T/E Black Tactical (1123-1T).

Is it legal to own or carry an OTF automatic knife like the Ultratech where I live?

Automatic knife laws, including those covering OTF knives, vary by federal, state, and local jurisdiction, and they change. Before ordering, check the laws where you live and carry. The American Knife and Tool Institute keeps state-by-state summaries at akti.org.

How does a double-action OTF knife work?

On a double-action out-the-front (OTF) knife, the blade slides straight out of the front of the handle. The Ultratech’s thumb slide both deploys the blade and retracts it, so you can open and close it with one hand. Keep your fingers clear of the front of the handle when deploying.

What does ZBP mean on the Ultratech?

ZBP stands for Zero Blade Play, a Microtech feature on the Gen III Ultratech. As the name suggests, it is aimed at minimizing blade movement when the blade is deployed. It works alongside Microtech’s Crud Kutter and Dual-Fuel Drive Train features.

What is included with the Ultratech Gen III?

The knife ships with its pocket clip installed for tip-down carry. This is a knife-only listing, so no sheath is included. Packaging and contents are subject to change by the manufacturer.

How do I care for the Ultratech?

The M390MK blade is stainless, but keep it clean and dry after use. Keep pocket lint and debris out of the blade channel, and follow Microtech’s guidance before using any lubricant in the mechanism.

What warranty does the Ultratech Gen III have, and where is it made?

Microtech handles warranty service for this knife. Contact Microtech directly for warranty terms and service. The Ultratech Gen III ZBP T/E is made in the USA.
