Spyderco Pathway Lightweight Black Blade – 4.43″ 9Cr18MoV Black Oxide Full-Flat Plain Edge Drop Point Blade, Black FRN Handle – FB59PBBK

The Spyderco Pathway Lightweight Black Blade is a 3.7 oz fixed blade designed by professional kayak fisherman Lance Clinton, finished with a non-reflective black oxide blade and matching black hardware for low-glare carry on the water and in the field.

9Cr18MoV is a high-carbon stainless steel that balances toughness, corrosion resistance, and edge retention with easy field sharpening. That makes it a practical choice for a knife that will see wet conditions, fish cleaning, and camp work. The 4.43″ drop-point blade is full-flat ground with low-friction geometry for efficient slicing, and its acute point handles detail work. The black oxide coating cuts glare for users who need light discipline.

• Blade: 4.43″ 9Cr18MoV drop point, full-flat grind, black oxide coating, 0.125″ thick, 4.25″ plain cutting edge, full tang. 9.50″ overall.

Spyderco Pathway Lightweight Black Blade: Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about the Spyderco Pathway Lightweight Black Blade (FB59PBBK).

What kind of blade and sheath does the Pathway Lightweight Black Blade have?

It is a full-tang fixed blade with a 4.43-inch 9Cr18MoV drop-point blade, full-flat ground with a black oxide coating and a plain edge. It comes with a snap-fit black FRN sheath and a configurable G-Clip mount.

What is included with the Pathway Lightweight Black Blade?

The knife comes with its snap-fit FRN sheath and G-Clip mount, which can be set up for different carry positions on a belt, pack strap, or PFD. A lanyard is not included, though the handle has a large lanyard hole. Packaging and contents are subject to change by the manufacturer.

Should I choose the Black Blade or the satin Pathway Lightweight?

Choose the Black Blade (FB59PBBK) if you want a low-glare, non-reflective finish with matching black hardware. Choose the satin version if you prefer a classic look and no coating to wear.

Will the black oxide coating wear off?

Black oxide is a thin finish, so it can show wear at high-contact points with regular use, sharpening, and sheath draws. This is normal and does not affect how the knife cuts. The blade underneath is 9Cr18MoV stainless steel.

Is the Pathway Lightweight good for fishing and use around water?

Yes. Designer Lance Clinton is a professional kayak fisherman, and the knife was inspired by the original Spyderco Waterway for use around the water. The 9Cr18MoV blade is stainless, and the textured FRN handle helps with grip when wet. Rinse it with fresh water after saltwater use and dry it before storing.

What warranty does the Pathway Lightweight Black Blade have, and where is it made?

Spyderco handles warranty service for this knife. Contact Spyderco directly for warranty terms and service. The Pathway Lightweight Black Blade is made in China.
