Spyderco Minarai Funayuki Utility Knife – 6.41″ CTS-BD1N Satin Plain Edge Black Polypropylene K16PBK

The Spyderco Minarai Funayuki K16PBK is an affordable, high-performance translation of one of Murray Carter’s most popular custom designs. As part of the Minarai Series—meaning “to look and learn”—this knife is designed for those who want professional-grade Japanese geometry in a durable, low-maintenance format. The 6.41-inch blade is crafted from CTS-BD1N, a nitrogen-enriched stainless steel that offers a razor-sharp edge, impressive toughness, and excellent corrosion resistance.

The Funayuki profile is a “do-it-all” shape that excels at chopping, draw-cutting, and general food preparation. Its thin-ground edge and acute tip make it perfect for both delicate slicing and more substantial kitchen tasks. True to its heritage, the handle is a traditional octagonal “wa”-style design, but it is upgraded with modern, injection-molded black polypropylene. This ensures the knife is perfectly balanced, easy to clean, and provides a secure, non-slip grip. Handcrafted in Seki City, Japan, the Minarai Funayuki is a testament to 420 years of bladesmithing expertise adapted for the modern home cook.
