Spyderco Minarai Petty Paring Knife – 4.64″ CTS-BD1N Satin Plain Edge Black Polypropylene K15PBK

The Spyderco Minarai Petty K15PBK is an economical and highly refined translation of Murray Carter’s handcrafted custom paring knives. Named after the Japanese term for an apprentice, the Minarai series is built for those who appreciate traditional design paired with modern, low-maintenance materials. This Petty knife features a 4.64-inch blade crafted from CTS-BD1N stainless steel, a nitrogen-enriched vacuum-melted steel that provides a superior balance of hardness, edge retention, and corrosion resistance.

The blade is ground exceptionally thin to provide the laser-like slicing performance required for peeling, garnishing, and detailed food preparation. True to traditional Japanese aesthetics, the handle features a “wa”-style octagonal profile but is constructed from durable, injection-molded black polypropylene. This material ensures a hygienic, slip-resistant grip that stands up to the rigors of a busy kitchen. Handcrafted in Seki City, Japan, the Minarai Petty is a remarkable fusion of 420 years of bladesmithing lineage and state-of-the-art metallurgy.
