Kershaw Launch 14 Auto – 3.375″ Damascus Cleaver Blade, Gray Aluminum & Black Carbon Fiber Inlay Handle USA Made – 7850BLKDAM

The Kershaw Launch 14 7850BLKDAM is a USA-made side-button automatic folder with a 3.375-inch Damascus cleaver blade on a gray anodized aluminum handle with black carbon fiber inlay — the only Damascus cleaver automatic in the Kershaw Launch lineup, delivering pattern-per-blade Damascus in the most visually striking blade geometry in the entire Launch catalog, on the most premium two-material handle in the Launch 14 family.

The Launch series represents Kershaw’s highest-tier USA-made automatic folder production — KVT ball-bearing pivot, side-button deployment, liner lock retention. The Launch 14 7850BLKDAM runs Damascus steel — forge-welded layered alloys manipulated through twisting, folding, or patterning before grinding to final geometry and acid-etched to reveal the contrasting layer pattern. No two Damascus blades carry an identical pattern: the 7850BLKDAM you receive is the only one with that exact pattern in existence. The cleaver blade geometry is the defining characteristic of the Launch 14 and the most immediately recognizable and visually distinctive blade profile in the Launch catalog. A cleaver blade draws from the kitchen cleaver and Chinese chef’s knife tradition — a broad, tall blade with a relatively flat edge and a spine that runs nearly parallel to the cutting edge, producing a rectangular or squared-off blade profile with a wide blade face and a blunt or mildly curved tip. In a folding knife, the cleaver geometry provides maximum blade face area for Damascus pattern visibility — more uninterrupted flat surface than any other blade geometry in the Launch lineup — while the broad blade delivers slicing capability with a belly that operates across its full width in a rocking or push cut. The Damascus pattern on a cleaver blade face is more fully visible and more visually dramatic than on any other blade profile in the catalog: where a spear point, clip point, or drop point narrows toward the tip and reduces the visible pattern area, the cleaver maintains its broad face all the way to the tip. The gray anodized aluminum handle with black carbon fiber inlay creates a two-material premium handle — neutral cool gray aluminum as the structural frame with woven black carbon fiber surface panels as the visual and tactile element. The cool gray frame against the warm Damascus etch tones creates a warm-on-cool blade-to-handle accent, while the black carbon fiber inlay adds woven visual texture distinct from the plain gray aluminum surface. Damascus requires active moisture maintenance. All assembled in Tualatin, Oregon on Kershaw’s USA production floor.
