ESEE-4 – 4.50″ 1095 Tactical Gray Part Serrated Drop Point Blade, Black G-10 Handle, Includes Clip Plate – ESEE-4S-CP-TG-B

The ESEE-4 is one of ESEE’s most popular survival knives, sized to handle heavy camp work while staying light enough for the trail. This version pairs a 4.50″ Tactical Gray 1095 drop-point blade with a partially serrated edge, black G-10 handle scales, and a black polymer sheath that comes with a clip plate for alternate carry.

1095 carbon steel is a classic choice for survival knives: tough, easy to sharpen in the field, and forgiving under hard use. ESEE runs it at 55-57 HRC. The 0.188″ thick blade stock stands up to batoning, while the tall flat grind keeps the plain section thin enough for clean slicing. The serrated section near the handle helps cut through rope, cordage, webbing, and other tough materials, and the black G-10 scales are durable and moisture resistant.

• Blade: 4.50″ 1095 carbon steel drop point, Tactical Gray finish, tall flat grind, partially serrated edge, 0.188″ thick, 55-57 HRC. 9.00″ overall.
• Handle: Black G-10 for a secure, durable grip. 4.50″ handle length.
• Sheath: Injection-molded black polymer sheath with a clip plate included for alternate mounting.
• Carry: 8.00 oz.

Ideal for: hunters and campers who want a mid-size knife that handles both slicing and rope work; outdoor users who want more sheath mounting options out of the box; and buyers who want a subdued gray and black look with a moisture-resistant G-10 handle.

Care: 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless. The Tactical Gray finish helps protect the blade, but the edge and any worn areas can rust or patina. Keep the knife dry and lightly oiled.

ESEE-4 Tactical Gray with Clip Plate: Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about the ESEE-4 with a partially serrated Tactical Gray blade, black G-10, black sheath, and clip plate (ESEE-4S-CP-TG-B).

What kind of blade and sheath does this ESEE-4 have?

It is a fixed blade with a 4.50-inch 1095 carbon steel drop-point blade, 0.188 inch thick, hardened to 55-57 HRC, with a Tactical Gray finish, a tall flat grind, and a partially serrated edge. It comes with an injection-molded black polymer sheath and a clip plate.

What is included with this ESEE-4?

The knife comes with its black polymer sheath and a clip plate. Contents are subject to change by the manufacturer.

What is the clip plate for?

The clip plate attaches to the sheath to give you an alternate way to mount it, such as clip-style carry on a belt or waistband, in addition to the sheath’s standard setup. It lets you change how and where the knife rides without buying a separate sheath accessory.

How is this different from other Tactical Gray ESEE-4 versions?

This version includes the clip plate with the sheath. The ESEE-4S-TG-B has the same partially serrated Tactical Gray blade, black G-10, and black sheath without the clip plate, and the ESEE-4P-TG-B has a full plain edge.

How do I sharpen and care for this knife?

Sharpen the plain section as you would any plain edge, and use a tapered ceramic rod on the beveled side of the serrations. 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless, so wipe the knife dry after use and keep a light coat of oil on it. The Tactical Gray finish helps protect the blade, but the edge and any worn areas can rust or patina if left wet.

What warranty does the ESEE-4 have, and where is it made?

ESEE describes its warranty as one of the most extensive available. Contact ESEE or visit eseeknives.com for current warranty terms and service. The ESEE-4 is made in the USA.
