An enlarged version of the original Tex Creek knife is the Tex Creek XL fixed blade. It’s intended to serve as a tough homage to the men and women who hunt and fish in southeast Idaho’s Tex Creek region. For this knife, TOPS Knives designer Leo Espinoza designed a new blade finish. It’s known as the “black river wash” by TOPS. The uncoated 1095 steel blade has been heat treated, giving the edge a darker sheen. This knife has a distinctive appearance that gives it a worn-in appearance and a work-ready attitude. Owing to the characteristics of the finish, every knife will have a slightly distinct appearance from the one seen above.
