TOPS Knives Abaniko – Blk G10 (6.38″ Blk 1095) TPABKO01

In the realm of close-quarters combat, where swift and decisive action can mean the difference between life and death, an ordinary knife often falls short. Enter the Abaniko, a signature design by Grandmaster Bram Frank. This tool, born from over 50 years of Filipino Martial Arts expertise, offers a distinct tactical advantage, seamlessly integrating with the wielder’s natural movements.

Key Design Elements

The Abaniko’s combat effectiveness is derived from several innovative design elements:

Biomechanically Anchored Power Grip

Grandmaster Frank meticulously crafted the Abaniko’s handle to align with the hand’s natural power structure. By engaging the bottom three fingers, the handle ensures the knife remains a firm extension of the arm. This design supports dynamic fanning and combative movements, enhancing the user’s control and effectiveness.

Advanced Slicing Dynamics

The Abaniko features a unique, slightly off-center blade geometry coupled with a subtle distal taper. This design allows the straight edge to contact targets at an angle, transforming it into an efficient “matter separator.” This characteristic provides the sharp slicing power typically associated with curved blades, offering superior cutting performance.

Patented ‘Bramp’ & Indexing System

The Abaniko incorporates Grandmaster Frank’s patented Bramp, which acts as a robust top hand guard. This feature excels in trapping and redirection. Additionally, the patented indexing spot facilitates smooth, fluid grip changes, which are vital for executing advanced Filipino Martial Arts techniques.

True Multi-Directional Cutting

A key element of the Abaniko’s design is its back swedge, which can be sharpened as an option. This feature aligns perfectly during the “back cut” phase of an Abaniko fanning motion, presenting the edge at an optimal angle. The result is a continuous, fluid, and omnidirectional offensive flow, empowering the wielder with relentless cutting capability.

Battlefield-Proven 1095 Steel Construction

Crafted from 1095 high carbon steel, known for its toughness and excellent edge retention, the Abaniko boasts a strong blade with a durable black powder coat finish. With a Rockwell hardness of 56-58 and a two-step lower guard, this construction guarantees reliability and improved safety, making it a dependable choice for demanding environments.

A Storied Martial Legacy

The Abaniko is more than just a knife; it is a reflection of Grandmaster Bram Frank’s profound expertise and his dedication to martial arts. Developed to transcend conventional designs, the Abaniko has been field-tested by top DoD, CENTCOM, and SOCOM operators. Every detail in its design is purposeful, offering owners not only a piece of combative history but also a significant tactical edge.

Owning the Abaniko instills confidence, knowing one possesses an effective warrior-weapon combination.

Maintenance Advisory

To preserve its peak performance, the Abaniko’s black powder coat finish protects the main blade surfaces. However, it is crucial to keep the exposed 1095 high carbon steel cutting edge clean and lightly oiled after use, particularly in humid or wet conditions, to prevent corrosion. This simple maintenance ensures the Abaniko remains ready for action when needed most.
