Spyderco Subway Bowie Salt – 2.80″ LC200N Black Ceramic Coated Plain Edge Blade, Black FRN Handle – FB48PBBK

The Spyderco Subway Bowie Salt FB48PBBK is the compact fixed blade built specifically for the environments that destroy most EDC knives — a 2.80-inch LC200N blade under black ceramic coating, Black FRN handle, and a fixed blade construction that eliminates every moving part that salt, moisture, and corrosion can compromise, in a package light enough to carry daily and capable enough to handle the full range of cutting tasks a marine and coastal EDC knife actually faces.

The LC200N blade is a nitrogen-alloyed stainless steel engineered specifically for maximum corrosion resistance in saltwater and high-humidity environments — one of the few production knife steels that can be left wet with salt water without developing the pitting and rust that would appear on conventional stainless within days. The black ceramic coating adds an additional layer of protection over LC200N‘s already strong corrosion resistance: a hard, chemically resistant surface coating that seals the blade flat against moisture and environmental exposure while eliminating all blade glare in low-light on-the-water conditions. The Subway Bowie’s blade geometry — a modified bowie profile with a swedged false edge and a robust spine — is designed for a fixed blade that handles utility cutting, fish processing, and the occasional heavier task without the pivot and lock mechanism of a folder introducing failure points. As a fixed blade, the FB48PBBK has no moving parts to corrode, no lock spring to fail, and no pivot screw to rust in sustained marine exposure.

• Blade: LC200N nitrogen-alloyed stainless, full flat grind, modified bowie profile, black ceramic coating, plain edge — nitrogen-based steel engineered for maximum corrosion resistance in sustained saltwater exposure; black ceramic coating adds a hard protective layer over the blade flat for additional environmental sealing and zero-glare appearance
• Handle: Black FRN (fiberglass-reinforced nylon), textured for positive grip in wet conditions, compact fixed blade ergonomics — FRN is impervious to salt, moisture, and temperature variation; lightweight construction keeps the Subway Bowie well under 3 oz for daily carry
• Construction: Fixed blade — no pivot, no lock, no moving parts; eliminates every mechanical failure point that salt, moisture, and corrosion target in a folding knife; full tang construction for maximum strength-to-size ratio at this blade length
• Carry: Sheath carry — confirm sheath style and carry options from the live construction makes the FB48PBBK suitable for PFD attachment, belt carry, and gear bag lashing in marine environments

Saltwater anglers, divers, and boaters who want a fixed blade Salt series knife as a dedicated water safety and utility blade — the FB48PBBK’s fixed blade construction eliminates the pivot and lock mechanism that are the first components to corrode in sustained marine exposure, giving it a mechanical reliability advantage over any folding Salt series knife in truly demanding wet environments. Buyers who carry a folding Salt series knife as their primary EDC and want a compact fixed blade secondary for fish processing, cutting line under tension, and emergency cutting tasks where a folder’s deployment speed and mechanism reliability under stress are concerns. Coastal and marine professionals who need a compact, corrosion-resistant fixed blade that can be attached to a PFD, dive BCD, or harness without adding bulk — the Subway Bowie’s compact 2.80-inch blade and FRN construction keep the knife light and low-profile for all-day rigged carry.
