SOG Super Bowie – 7.50″ AUS-8 Hardcased Black TiNi Clip Point Plain Blade, Stacked Leather Washer Handle – SOGSB1TL

The SOG Super Bowie SOGSB1TL is the knife that launched SOG — an XL fixed blade built in the tradition of the American Bowie with a modern hardcased TiNi finish and a stacked leather washer handle that has been the gold standard for working Bowie construction since the 19th century. No task is too big. That’s the point.

The blade is ground from AUS-8 — a Japanese stainless steel at 57-58 HRC (Rc.) that delivers a practical balance of edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance in a production fixed blade format. At 7.50″ long and 0.25″ thick, this is a serious blade for serious work: clearing brush, field processing game, camp tasks that smaller knives can’t handle, and anything else that demands a large format fixed blade. The clip point profile keeps the tip aggressive and useful for piercing and detail work while the straight edge and straight spine give you a clean, authoritative cutting platform. The Hardcased Black TiNi finish is SOG’s titanium nitride coating process — harder than standard coatings, non-reflective, and bonded to the blade for long-term wear resistance.

The handle is built from epoxied stacked leather washers — individual leather discs compressed and epoxied onto the full tang, then shaped to a comfortable grip profile. This is the classic construction method for traditional American Bowies: the leather absorbs shock and sweat, provides a secure non-slip grip in wet conditions, and develops a patina with use that no synthetic handle material replicates. The stainless steel crossguard keeps your fingers safe under hard use and adds the traditional Bowie silhouette; the stainless steel pommel completes the full tang construction. Total weight is 17.40 oz — this is a knife you feel in hand. A lanyard hole, presentation box, and black leather belt sheath with snap closure are included.
