Pro-Tech TR-3 – 3.5″ 154CM DLC Black Plain Edge Drop Point Blade, FDE Grooved Texture 6061-T6 Aluminum Handle – TR-3 BT-FDE

The Pro-Tech TR-3 BT-FDE is the flat dark earth grooved texture variant of the TR-3 platform — a DLC black 154CM drop point blade against FDE brown anodized aluminum with grooved texture scaling that puts grip traction into the handle without adding any material weight. The color combination is deliberate: DLC black blade against FDE brown aluminum is the field-ready pairing that works in duty, outdoor, and tactical carry contexts where an all-black knife disappears and a bright colorway announces itself.

The blade steel is 154CM, heat-treated to 59 HRC for a balance of edge retention and toughness that holds up through real daily use. The DLC black coating adds surface hardness and wear resistance on top of Pro-Tech’s proven stainless and eliminates blade glare in field conditions. At 0.125 inches thick with a drop point profile, the 3.5-inch blade handles the full range of daily and duty cutting tasks with geometry that balances slicing capability and tip strength. The grooved texture on the 6061-T6 aluminum handle is machined directly into the aluminum — a channel pattern that gives the fingers something to register against under pressure without adding any bulk to the 0.49-inch handle thickness. Pro-Tech’s coil-spring push-button fires with consistent authority at 8.0 inches overall and 3.68 oz.
