The Gen III Microtech LUDT (Large Underwater Demolition Team) knife represents the pinnacle of Microtech’s innovative knife-making journey. As a modern iteration of Microtech’s inaugural knife, the UDT, the Gen III LUDT offers both historical legacy and cutting-edge advancements. Originally designed to operate with powerful automatic action capable of firing the blade underwater, the UDT has evolved considerably over the past two decades.

Key Improvements and Features

Throughout its development, the LUDT has seen numerous updates and enhancements, each contributing to its reputation for reliability and performance. The Gen III version distinguishes itself from its predecessors with several subtle but significant changes:

• Styling Enhancements: The Gen III LUDT features minor aesthetic updates, providing a fresh look while maintaining its iconic design.

• Inclusion of Inlays: The addition of inlays not only enhances the visual appeal but also improves grip and handling.

• Use of Standard Torx Screws: This change simplifies maintenance and allows for easier disassembly and reassembly for cleaning or repair.

• Silica Carbide Ball Bearing Pivot: The most notable improvement, this ultra-smooth, ultra-solid pivot system ensures seamless operation and longevity.

Revolutionary Blade Material

A standout feature of the Gen III LUDT is its blade, crafted from Microtech’s proprietary Bohler M390MK super steel. This material offers superior edge retention compared to the conventional M390, ensuring the knife remains razor-sharp through extended use. Whether you require a knife for tactical purposes or everyday utility, the M390MK blade is designed to withstand the demands of rigorous tasks.

Reliability and Performance
