Kershaw Launch 16 Auto – 3.45″ CPM M4 Black Cerakote Tanto Serrated Blade, Black Aluminum Handle with Trac-Tec Inserts USA Made – 7105

The Kershaw Launch 16 7105 is a USA-made side-button automatic folder with a 3.45-inch CPM M4 black Cerakote serrated tanto blade on a black aluminum handle with Trac-Tec inserts — the only serrated automatic in the Launch lineup, combining the maximum-edge-retention tool steel with an aggressive serration pattern for cutting tasks where a plain edge alone is not the right tool.

The Launch series represents Kershaw’s highest-tier USA-made automatic folder production — KVT ball-bearing pivot, side-button deployment, liner lock retention. The Launch 16 7105 runs CPM M4 — a high-speed tool steel produced by Crucible Industries through the powder metallurgy process, delivering the highest edge retention and wear resistance of any steel in the Launch lineup at the explicit trade-off of corrosion resistance. CPM M4 is not stainless. The black Cerakote coating addresses that trade-off directly — a polymer-ceramic barrier harder and more abrasion-resistant than PVD, more durable at the blade face than black-oxide. The serrated edge is the feature that distinguishes the 7105 from every other Launch 16 variant and from every other Launch automatic in this catalog. Serrations are individual scalloped or wave-form cutting points ground into the edge, each point acting as an independent micro-saw tooth. Where a plain edge relies on continuous, even contact with the material being cut, a serrated edge concentrates cutting force at each serration point, allowing it to bite into and saw through fibrous, tough, or slick materials — rope, webbing, seatbelt material, cardboard — more effectively than a plain edge under the same pressure, particularly as the edge dulls. On a tanto blade, the serration pattern typically runs along the primary edge while the chisel-ground secondary edge remains plain, preserving the tanto’s reinforced tip geometry for penetration tasks while adding sawing capability along the primary cutting edge. The black aluminum handle with Trac-Tec inserts provides the same purpose-engineered grip texture established on the other Launch 16 CPM M4 variants. All assembled in Tualatin, Oregon on Kershaw’s USA production floor.

• Blade: CPM M4 tool steel, tanto profile, black Cerakote finish, serrated edge — the only serrated automatic in the Launch lineup; serration points concentrate cutting force for tough, fibrous, or slick materials that resist plain-edge cutting; maximum edge retention in the Launch lineup under a durable polymer-ceramic coating
• Handle: Black aluminum with Trac-Tec inserts — purpose-engineered textured grip panels for positive non-slip contact; fully unified all-black carry profile
• Deployment: Side-button automatic — press the button on the spine; KVT ball-bearing pivot delivers fast, smooth, one-hand deployment; liner lock retention
• Carry: USA made, 3.45-inch serrated tanto blade (confirm clip configuration)

Buyers who need a serrated edge for cutting tough, fibrous, or slick materials — rope, webbing, seatbelt material, packaging strap — where a plain edge struggles as it dulls. The 7105 is the only serrated automatic in the Launch lineup, combining that sawing capability with CPM M4’s maximum edge retention and the tanto’s reinforced tip. First responders, rescue personnel, outdoor and marine carry buyers, and anyone whose cutting tasks regularly involve tough cordage or webbing materials. Buyers completing the Launch 16 CPM M4 family who want the 7105 serrated alongside the 7105OLBLK (field-carry OD green plain edge) and 7105RAW (raw aluminum gray Cerakote plain edge) as the complete three-variant Launch 16 CPM M4 set.

CPM M4, black Cerakote serrated tanto, black aluminum with Trac-Tec inserts, USA-made side-button automatic, and Kershaw Lifetime Warranty — the Kershaw Launch 16 7105 is the only serrated automatic in the Launch lineup.
