Junglas – 10.38″ 1095 Dark Earth Plain Edge Drop Point Blade, Tan Micarta Handle – JUNGLAS-DE-E

The ESEE Junglas is a hard-use cross between a big fixed blade and a machete, with a 10.38″ 1095 carbon steel drop point in Dark Earth, tan Micarta scales, and a black Kydex sheath with a MOLLE back.

Pronounced “Hoonglas,” the knife is named for Colombia’s Jungla special operations commandos. Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin developed it after time in South America working alongside anti-narcotics units that needed one tool for clearing dense jungle vegetation. ESEE grinds the 0.19″ thick blade from 1095 carbon steel at 55-57 HRC, a tough, straightforward steel that takes a keen edge and is easy to touch up in the field. The long blade gives a machete’s reach and chopping momentum, while the thicker stock and drop-point profile still handle knife work like notching, splitting, and camp tasks. ESEE notes the Junglas is carried by anti-narcotics forces in several countries, including the United States.

• Blade: 10.38″ 1095 carbon steel drop point, flat grind, plain edge, Dark Earth finish, 0.19″ thick, 55-57 HRC. 16.50″ overall.
• Handle: Tan Micarta scales, 6.12″ long.
• Construction: Fixed blade, with no folding or locking mechanism.

Ideal for: landowners and trail builders who clear brush and vines; overlanders and jungle travelers who want one tool that chops like a machete and works like a knife; and ESEE collectors adding the Randall and Perrin design that started in Colombia.

Care: 1095 is not stainless. It may develop a patina where the finish wears, so keep the blade dry and lightly oiled.
