Helle Gaupe Fixed Blade Knife, 4.21 in. Blade, Triple Laminated Stainless, Curly Birch Handle, Black Leather Sheath

The Helle Gaupe has been earning its place on belts and in packs since 2011, and for good reason. Named after the Norwegian word for Lynx, it carries that same character — sleek, capable, and built for real work in the field. This is one of Helle’s most beloved mid-size outdoor knives, designed for hunters, bushcrafters, and outdoorspeople who want a blade that handles everything from camp chores to field dressing without skipping a beat. If you have medium to large hands and want a classic Norwegian fixed blade that feels like it was made for you, the Gaupe is the one.

The 4.21-inch blade is built from Helle’s H3LS triple laminated stainless steel — a hard high-alloy cutting core flanked by softer stainless outer layers. The result is a blade that takes a razor edge, holds it through demanding use, resists corrosion in wet outdoor conditions, and sharpens back up easily in the field. The polished Scandi grind delivers clean, controlled cuts for woodworking, carving, and food prep with equal confidence. A small fingerguard adds security during hard use without getting in the way of natural grip transitions. The curly birch handle is hand-shaped and sanded to a satin finish, fitting comfortably in medium to large hands with a grip that stays secure even when wet.

The Gaupe ships with a traditional black genuine leather sheath featuring the Lynx footprint as decoration — a nod to the knife’s Norwegian heritage and one of the more distinctive sheaths in Helle’s lineup. This knife is built to be used hard and passed down.
