Expat Libertariat Machete – 9.0″ 1095 Black Plain Edge Cleaver Blade, Tan Canvas Micarta Handle – ESLIBUSA ESEE-LIBERTARIAT

The Expat Libertariat Machete is a lightweight, full-tang survival machete built for tropical environments, now made in the USA. Designed by John Armstrong for Expat Knives, a subsidiary of ESEE Knives, it pairs a 9.0″ black-coated 1095 cleaver blade with a tapered tan canvas Micarta handle and a green canvas sheath.

1095 carbon steel is a classic choice for large outdoor blades: tough, easy to sharpen in the field, and forgiving under hard use. ESEE hardens it to 55-57 HRC and finishes it with a black coating for added protection. The flat-ground cleaver blade handles chopping and clearing, while two practical details expand what it can do: a 90° spine for striking a ferro rod, and a draw knife hole that lets you add a second grip near the tip for draw-knife-style carving and shaving.

• Blade: 9.0″ 1095 carbon steel cleaver, black coating, flat grind, plain edge, full tang, 0.13″ thick, 55-57 HRC, 90° ferro rod spine, draw knife hole. 14.00″ overall.
• Handle: Tan canvas Micarta, tapered for a secure, comfortable grip. 5.00″ handle length.
• Sheath: Green canvas sheath included.
• Carry: 15.72 oz, light for a full-tang machete.

Ideal for: travelers and guides working in tropical and jungle environments; survival and bushcraft practitioners who want one blade for chopping, fire starting, and carving; and ESEE and Expat collectors, as ESEE lists this as a limited production run.

Care: 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless. The black coating helps protect the blade, but the edge, spine, and any worn areas can rust or patina. Keep the machete dry and lightly oiled, and avoid storing it wet in the canvas sheath.
