ESEE-5 – 5.25″ 1095 Tactical Gray Plain Edge Drop Point Blade, Tan Micarta Handle – ESEE-5P-TG

ESEE says the ESEE-5 was designed by military SERE instructors as a downed pilot’s survival knife: a heavy-duty tool for prying, cutting, and chopping in remote or emergency conditions. This version pairs a 5.25″ Tactical Gray 1095 blade with a full plain edge, tan Micarta handle scales, and a black Kydex belt sheath.

1095 carbon steel is a classic choice for hard-use survival knives: tough, easy to sharpen in the field, and forgiving under heavy use. ESEE runs it at 55-57 HRC. At 0.25″ thick with a saber grind, the ESEE-5 is built for strength in prying and chopping, and the full plain edge keeps sharpening simple. Every ESEE-5 also has a sharpened glass breaker pommel and a bow drill divot in the handle for fire making.

• Blade: 5.25″ 1095 carbon steel drop point, Tactical Gray finish, saber grind, plain edge, 0.25″ thick, 55-57 HRC. 11.00″ overall.
• Handle: Tan Micarta with a bow drill divot and a sharpened glass breaker pommel. 5.75″ handle length.
• Sheath: Black Kydex belt sheath included.
• Carry: 16.00 oz.

Ideal for: survivalists and preppers who want a heavy-duty knife built for prying and chopping; vehicle and aviation kit builders who want a glass breaker on a full-size fixed blade; and bushcrafters who prefer a full plain edge with a bow drill divot.

Glass breaker: Laws on knives with glass breakers and similar tools vary. Check your local laws and use this tool lawfully.

Care: 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless. The Tactical Gray finish helps protect the blade, but the edge and any worn areas can rust or patina. Keep the knife dry and lightly oiled.

What kind of blade and sheath does the ESEE-5 have?

It is a fixed blade with a 5.25-inch 1095 carbon steel drop-point blade, 0.25 inch thick, hardened to 55-57 HRC, with a Tactical Gray finish, a saber grind, and a plain edge. It comes with a black Kydex belt sheath.

What is included with the ESEE-5?

The knife comes with its black Kydex belt sheath. Contents are subject to change by the manufacturer.

What are the glass breaker pommel and bow drill divot for?

The sharpened pommel at the end of the handle works as a glass breaker, and the divot in the handle can serve as a bearing block for a bow drill when making fire. Laws on knives with glass breakers and similar tools vary, so check your local laws and use the tool lawfully.

How is this different from other ESEE-5 versions?

All ESEE-5 models share the same 5.25-inch saber-ground 1095 blade, glass breaker pommel, and bow drill divot. This version pairs a plain-edge Tactical Gray blade with tan Micarta. The ESEE-5S-TG is the same knife with a partially serrated edge, the ESEE-5P-E has a plain-edge black blade, and the ESEE-5P-DT has a plain-edge Desert Tan blade.

Will the 1095 carbon steel blade rust?

It can. 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless, so it needs more care than stainless steels. The Tactical Gray finish helps protect the blade, but the edge and any worn areas can rust or patina if left wet. Wipe the knife dry after use and keep a light coat of oil on it.

What warranty does the ESEE-5 have, and where is it made?

ESEE describes its warranty as one of the most extensive available. Contact ESEE or visit eseeknives.com for current warranty terms and service. The ESEE-5 is made in the USA.
