ESEE-5 – 5.25″ 1095 OD Green Plain Edge Drop Point Blade, Tan Micarta Handle – ESEE-5P-OD-E

The ESEE-5 is a heavy-duty survival knife that ESEE says was designed by military SERE instructors as a downed pilot’s survival knife. This version pairs a 5.25″ OD Green 1095 blade with tan Micarta handle scales and a black Kydex belt sheath.

1095 carbon steel is a classic choice for hard-use survival knives: tough, easy to sharpen in the field, and forgiving under heavy work. ESEE runs it at 55-57 HRC. At 0.25″ thick with a saber grind, the blade keeps extra steel behind the edge for strength during chopping and other heavy tasks. Every ESEE-5 also has a sharpened glass breaker pommel and a bow drill divot in the handle for fire starting, and the tan Micarta has a warm, textured feel in the hand.

• Blade: 5.25″ 1095 carbon steel drop point, OD Green finish, saber grind, plain edge, 0.25″ thick, 55-57 HRC. 11.00″ overall.
• Handle: Tan Micarta for a secure, natural grip, with a bow drill divot and a sharpened glass breaker pommel. 5.75″ handle length.
• Sheath: Black Kydex belt sheath included.
• Carry: 16.00 oz.

Ideal for: hard-use survival and preparedness buyers who want a thick, heavy-duty fixed blade; bushcrafters who prefer the classic feel of Micarta and want a bow drill divot built into the handle; and outdoor users who want a field-ready OD Green and tan colorway.

Glass breaker: Laws on knives with glass breakers and similar tools vary. Check your local laws and use this tool lawfully.

Care: 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless. The OD Green finish helps protect the blade, but the edge and any worn areas can rust or patina. Keep the knife dry and lightly oiled.

ESEE-5 OD Green and Tan Micarta: Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about the ESEE-5 with an OD Green blade and tan Micarta (ESEE-5P-OD-E).

What kind of blade and sheath does this ESEE-5 have?

It is a fixed blade with a 5.25-inch 1095 carbon steel drop-point blade, 0.25 inch thick, hardened to 55-57 HRC, with an OD Green finish, a saber grind, and a plain edge. It comes with a black Kydex belt sheath.

What is included with this ESEE-5?

The knife comes with its black Kydex belt sheath. Contents are subject to change by the manufacturer.

What are the glass breaker pommel and bow drill divot for?

The sharpened pommel at the end of the handle is designed as a glass breaker. The divot in the handle can serve as a bearing block for a bow drill, a traditional friction method for starting a fire. Laws on knives with glass breakers vary, so check your local laws and use the tool lawfully.

How is this different from other ESEE-5 versions?

All ESEE-5 models share the same 5.25-inch 1095 blade, saber grind, glass breaker pommel, and Kydex sheath. This version has tan Micarta scales and weighs 16 oz. The ESEE-5P-VG pairs a Venom Green blade with standard orange G-10, and the 3D Handle models use contoured G-10 scales in orange, 5POR-006, Venom Green, 5PVG-007, and Dark Earth, 5PDE-005.

Will the 1095 carbon steel blade rust?

It can. 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless, so it needs more care than stainless steels. The OD Green finish helps protect the blade, but the edge and any worn areas can rust or patina if left wet. Wipe the knife dry after use and keep a light coat of oil on it.

What warranty does the ESEE-5 have, and where is it made?

ESEE describes its warranty as one of the most extensive available. Contact ESEE or visit eseeknives.com for current warranty terms and service. The ESEE-5 is made in the USA.
