ESEE-4 – 4.50″ 1095 Dark Earth Plain Edge Drop Point Blade, Gray Micarta Handle – ESEE-4P-MB-DE

The ESEE-4 is one of ESEE’s most popular survival knives, sized to handle heavy camp work while staying light enough for the trail. This version pairs a 4.50″ Dark Earth 1095 drop-point blade with gray Micarta handle scales and a black polymer sheath with a MOLLE back for pack and vest mounting.

1095 carbon steel is a classic choice for survival knives: tough, easy to sharpen in the field, and forgiving under hard use. ESEE runs it at 55-57 HRC. The 0.188″ thick blade stock stands up to batoning, while the tall flat grind keeps the edge thin enough for clean slicing in camp and when processing game. The gray Micarta scales have a warm, textured feel that grips well in the hand.

• Blade: 4.50″ 1095 carbon steel drop point, Dark Earth finish, tall flat grind, plain edge, 0.188″ thick, 55-57 HRC. 9.00″ overall.
• Handle: Gray Micarta for a secure, natural grip. 4.50″ handle length.
• Sheath: Injection-molded black polymer sheath with a MOLLE back.
• Carry: 8.00 oz, mounts on a belt, pack, or MOLLE gear.

Ideal for: hunters and campers who want a mid-size knife for batoning and slicing; preppers and outdoor users who want MOLLE-compatible mounting on a pack or vest; and anyone who prefers the classic feel of Micarta with an earth-toned blade.

Care: 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless. The Dark Earth finish helps protect the blade, but the edge and any worn areas can rust or patina. Keep the knife dry and lightly oiled.

ESEE-4 Dark Earth and Gray Micarta: Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about the ESEE-4 with a Dark Earth blade, gray Micarta, and a MOLLE-back sheath (ESEE-4P-MB-DE).

What kind of blade and sheath does this ESEE-4 have?

It is a fixed blade with a 4.50-inch 1095 carbon steel drop-point blade, 0.188 inch thick, hardened to 55-57 HRC, with a Dark Earth finish, a tall flat grind, and a plain edge. It comes with an injection-molded black polymer sheath with a MOLLE back.

What is included with this ESEE-4?

The knife comes with its black polymer sheath with a MOLLE back. Contents are subject to change by the manufacturer.

What does the MOLLE back on the sheath do?

A MOLLE back lets you mount the sheath to the webbing found on many packs, vests, and tactical gear, in addition to belt carry. That gives you more options for where the knife rides.

How is this different from the ESEE-4 3D Handle?

Both share the same 4.50-inch 1095 blade, tall flat grind, and overall size. The 3D Handle versions use contoured scales shaped to fill the hand.

Will the 1095 carbon steel blade rust?

It can. 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless, so it needs more care than stainless steels. The Dark Earth finish helps protect the blade, but the edge and any worn areas can rust or patina if left wet. Wipe the knife dry after use and keep a light coat of oil on it.

What warranty does the ESEE-4 have, and where is it made?

ESEE describes its warranty as one of the most extensive available. Contact ESEE or visit eseeknives.com for current warranty terms and service. The ESEE-4 is made in the USA.
