ESEE-4 3D Handle – 4.50″ 1095 Desert Tan Plain Edge Drop Point Blade, Coyote Brown and Black 3D G-10 Handle – ESEE-4PDT-005

The ESEE-4 is one of ESEE’s most popular survival knives, sized to handle heavy camp work while staying light enough for the trail. This 3D Handle version pairs a 4.50″ Desert Tan 1095 drop-point blade with contoured Coyote Brown and black G-10 scales and a black polymer sheath, for a matched, earth-toned build.

1095 carbon steel is a classic choice for survival knives: tough, easy to sharpen in the field, and forgiving under hard use. ESEE runs it at 55-57 HRC. The 0.188″ thick blade stock stands up to batoning, while the tall flat grind keeps the edge thin enough for clean slicing in camp and when processing game. The 3D handle uses contoured G-10 scales shaped to fill the hand rather than flat slabs.

• Blade: 4.50″ 1095 carbon steel drop point, Desert Tan finish, tall flat grind, plain edge, 0.188″ thick, 55-57 HRC. 9.0″ overall.
• Handle: 3D-contoured Coyote Brown and black G-10 for a secure grip. 4.50″ handle length.
• Sheath: Injection-molded black polymer sheath included.
• Carry: 8.00 oz.

Ideal for: hunters and campers who want a mid-size knife for batoning and slicing; bushcrafters and preppers who want a tough survival blade larger than the ESEE-3; and outdoor users who prefer a matched tan and brown colorway.

Care: 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless. The Desert Tan finish helps protect the blade, but the edge and any worn areas can rust or patina. Keep the knife dry and lightly oiled.

Which ESEE-4 3D Handle colorway should I choose?

All share the same 4.50-inch 1095 blade, tall flat grind, 3D handle shape, and polymer sheath. Choose Desert Tan with Coyote Brown and black G-10 for a matched, earth-toned look, or Dark Earth, ESEE-4PDE-001, for another subdued option. For high visibility, choose orange, ESEE-4POR-006, or Venom Green, ESEE-4PVG-007.

How does the ESEE-4 compare to the ESEE-3?

The ESEE-4 is the larger, heavier-duty sibling. It has a 4.50-inch blade at 0.188 inch thick, compared with the ESEE-3’s 3.88-inch blade at 0.125 inch thick, which gives it more reach and strength for batoning and heavier camp work.

Will the 1095 carbon steel blade rust?

It can. 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless, so it needs more care than stainless steels. The Desert Tan finish helps protect the blade, but the edge and any worn areas can rust or patina if left wet. Wipe the knife dry after use and keep a light coat of oil on it.

What warranty does the ESEE-4 have, and where is it made?

ESEE describes its warranty as one of the most extensive available. Contact ESEE or visit eseeknives.com for current warranty terms and service. The ESEE-4 is made in the USA.
