ESEE-3 Fixed Blade – 3.88″ 1095 Black Partially Serrated Drop Point Blade, Gray Micarta Handle – ESEE-3S-MB-CO

The ESEE-3 is an all-purpose outdoor, bushcraft, and survival fixed blade, built to be tough while staying compact and lightweight. This version pairs a 3.88″ black-coated 1095 drop-point blade with a partially serrated edge, gray Micarta handle scales, and a Coyote Brown sheath with a MOLLE back.

1095 carbon steel is a classic outdoor steel: tough, easy to sharpen in the field, and dependable under hard use. ESEE runs it at 55-57 HRC. The 1/8″ thick, flat-ground blade slices thin for processing game and making tinder, while the partially serrated section near the handle helps cut through cordage, webbing, and other tough, fibrous materials. The handle is sized to hold and use comfortably, with no extra frills.

• Blade: 3.88″ 1095 carbon steel drop point, black finish, flat grind, partially serrated edge, 0.125″ thick, 55-57 HRC. 8.31″ overall.
• Handle: Gray Micarta, compact and comfortable. 4.43″ handle length.
• Sheath: Injection-molded Coyote Brown sheath with a MOLLE back.
• Carry: 5.2 oz, mounts on a belt or MOLLE gear.

Ideal for: bushcrafters and survival trainees who want a compact, all-purpose fixed blade; hunters who process game and cut cordage in the field; and outdoor users who want serrations for rope and webbing alongside a plain cutting edge.

Care: 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless. The black finish helps protect the blade, but the edge and any worn areas can rust or patina. Keep the knife dry and lightly oiled.

ESEE-3 Partially Serrated: Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about the ESEE-3 with a partially serrated edge and gray Micarta (ESEE-3S-MB-CO).

What kind of blade and sheath does the ESEE-3 have?

It is a fixed blade with a 3.88-inch 1095 carbon steel drop-point blade, 0.125 inch thick, hardened to 55-57 HRC, with a black finish, a flat grind, and a partially serrated edge. It comes with an injection-molded Coyote Brown sheath with a MOLLE back.

What is included with the ESEE-3?

The knife comes with its Coyote Brown sheath with a MOLLE back. Contents are subject to change by the manufacturer.

Why choose a partially serrated edge?

The plain section toward the tip handles clean slicing, carving, and detail work, while the serrated section near the handle grips and saws through rope, cordage, webbing, and other fibrous materials. It gives you two cutting styles on one compact blade.

How do I sharpen the serrated section?

Sharpen the plain section as you would any plain edge. For the serrations, use a tapered ceramic rod or a sharpening system with corner edges for serrations, working only the beveled side, then lightly remove any burr from the flat side.

Will the 1095 carbon steel blade rust?

It can. 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless, so it needs more care than stainless steels. The black finish helps protect the blade, but the edge and any worn areas can rust or patina if left wet. Wipe the knife dry after use and keep a light coat of oil on it.

What warranty does the ESEE-3 have, and where is it made?

ESEE describes its warranty as one of the most extensive available. Contact ESEE or visit eseeknives.com for current warranty terms and service. The ESEE-3 is made in the USA.
