ESEE-3 – 3.88″ 1095 Desert Tan Plain Edge Drop Point Blade, Tan Micarta Handle, Modified Pommel – ESEE-3PM-MB-DT

The ESEE-3 is an all-purpose outdoor, bushcraft, and survival fixed blade, built to be tough while staying compact and lightweight. This version pairs a 3.88″ Desert Tan 1095 drop-point blade with a full plain edge, tan Micarta handle scales with a modified pommel, and an OD Green polymer sheath with a MOLLE back.

1095 carbon steel is a classic outdoor steel: tough, easy to sharpen in the field, and dependable under hard use. ESEE runs it at 55-57 HRC. The 0.125″ thick, flat-ground blade slices thin for processing game and making tinder, and the full plain edge makes sharpening simple. The modified pommel gives the handle a distinct profile and a slightly shorter overall length than the standard ESEE-3, and the tan Micarta scales have a warm, textured feel that grips well in the hand.

• Blade: 3.88″ 1095 carbon steel drop point, Desert Tan finish, flat grind, plain edge, 0.125″ thick, 55-57 HRC. 8.19″ overall.
• Handle: Tan Micarta with a modified pommel, for a secure, natural grip. 4.31″ handle length.
• Sheath: Injection-molded OD Green polymer sheath with a MOLLE back.
• Carry: 5.2 oz, mounts on a belt, pack, or MOLLE gear.

Ideal for: bushcrafters and survival trainees who want a compact, all-purpose fixed blade; hunters who prefer a full plain edge for slicing and carving; and ESEE-3 fans who want the modified pommel in a matched Desert Tan and tan colorway with MOLLE-compatible mounting.

Care: 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless. The Desert Tan finish helps protect the blade, but the edge and any worn areas can rust or patina. Keep the knife dry and lightly oiled.

ESEE-3 Modified Pommel, Desert Tan Plain Edge: Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about the ESEE-3 with a modified pommel, plain-edge Desert Tan blade, tan Micarta, and OD Green MOLLE-back sheath (ESEE-3PM-MB-DT).

What kind of blade and sheath does this ESEE-3 have?

It is a fixed blade with a 3.88-inch 1095 carbon steel drop-point blade, 0.125 inch thick, hardened to 55-57 HRC, with a Desert Tan finish, a flat grind, and a plain edge. It comes with an injection-molded OD Green polymer sheath with a MOLLE back.

What is included with this ESEE-3?

The knife comes with its OD Green polymer sheath with a MOLLE back. Contents are subject to change by the manufacturer.

How is the modified pommel different from the standard ESEE-3?

The modified pommel gives the handle a distinct profile and makes the knife slightly shorter: 8.19 inches overall with a 4.31-inch handle, compared with 8.31 inches and 4.43 inches on the standard-pommel ESEE-3. The blade is the same.

How does this compare to the other Desert Tan ESEE-3 versions?

All three share the Desert Tan blade, tan Micarta, and OD Green MOLLE-back sheath. This version has a plain edge and the modified pommel. The ESEE-3SM-MB-DT adds a partially serrated edge with the modified pommel, and the ESEE-3P-MB-DT has a plain edge with the standard pommel.

How do I use the MOLLE back and care for this knife?

The MOLLE back lets you mount the sheath to webbing on packs and vests as well as a belt. 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless, so wipe the knife dry after use and keep a light coat of oil on it. The Desert Tan finish helps protect the blade, but the edge and any worn areas can rust or patina if left wet.

What warranty does the ESEE-3 have, and where is it made?

ESEE describes its warranty as one of the most extensive available. Contact ESEE or visit eseeknives.com for current warranty terms and service. The ESEE-3 is made in the USA.
