Camp-Lore JG5 – 4.875″ 1095 Stonewashed Black Oxide Nessmuk Blade, Brown Micarta Handle – ESEE-JG5-C-132

The ESEE Camp-Lore JG5 is a Nessmuk-pattern bushcraft knife designed by bladesmith and bushcraft instructor James Gibson, built around a 4.875″ 1095 carbon steel blade and a brown Micarta handle.

The pattern traces back to the knife carried by George Washington Sears, the outdoor writer and early conservationist who wrote as Nessmuk. Gibson, an east Tennessee native raised around the Great Smoky Mountains, earned his Journeyman Smith rating from the American Bladesmith Society in 2003 and serves as lead bushcraft instructor for Randall’s Adventure & Training. ESEE runs the flat-ground blade in 1095 carbon steel at 55-57 HRC, a tough, straightforward steel that takes a keen edge and is easy to touch up in the field. A stonewashed black oxide finish covers the blade, and the style will feel familiar to anyone who knows ESEE’s PR4.

• Blade: 4.875″ 1095 carbon steel Nessmuk pattern, flat ground, stonewashed black oxide finish, 55-57 HRC.
• Handle: Sculpted, chipped-texture brown Micarta secured with three screws.
• Construction: Fixed blade, with no folding or locking mechanism.
• Carry: 5.3 oz. Includes a stitched brown leather pouch sheath with belt loop.

Ideal for: bushcrafters who want a traditional Nessmuk pattern; ESEE PR4 owners looking for a companion in a similar style; and campers who want a carbon steel blade they can sharpen in the field.

Care: 1095 is not stainless. It may develop a patina, so keep the blade dry and lightly oiled.
