Benchmade Osborne Auto – 3.40″ CPM MagnaCut Black Coated Reverse Tanto Blade, Burnt Copper Aluminum Handle – 9400BK-03

The Benchmade Osborne Auto 9400BK-03 is the automatic expression of Warren Osborne’s legendary 940 design — a fast-firing AXIS automatic with a premium CPM MagnaCut reverse tanto blade and a striking burnt copper aluminum handle, blending iconic ergonomics with top-tier modern steel.

The 3.40-inch blade is crafted from CPM MagnaCut, Crucible Industries’ purpose-designed particle metallurgy steel that delivers edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance simultaneously — a balance conventional steels force you to trade off against one another. Here that premium steel is finished in a black coating for a stealthy, non-reflective look and added wear resistance. The reverse tanto profile is the signature of the Osborne design: it puts a strong, acute point exactly where you need it for piercing and detail work while keeping a long, useful straight edge for everyday cutting.

The automatic AXIS mechanism is what sets the 9400 apart from the manual 940. Pull the AXIS bar and the blade fires open fast and locks solid — fully ambidextrous, with the same secure AXIS lock-up Benchmade is known for. The burnt copper anodized aluminum handle gives this configuration a warm, distinctive metallic finish that stands apart from the standard lineup, while keeping the knife light, rigid, and comfortable in the hand.
