Benchmade Auto Osborne – 3.40″ CPM-S30V Black Coated Reverse Tanto Blade, Green Aluminum Handle – 9400BK

The Benchmade Auto Osborne 9400BK is the automatic expression of Warren Osborne’s legendary 940 design in its iconic green colorway — a fast-firing AXIS automatic with a black-coated CPM-S30V reverse tanto blade and the classic green aluminum handle that made the Osborne a daily-carry legend.

The 3.40-inch blade is crafted from CPM-S30V, the proven workhorse steel that has anchored Benchmade’s lineup for over two decades. Produced through Crucible’s particle metallurgy process, CPM-S30V delivers a dependable balance of edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance — sharp out of the box, easy to maintain, and ready for any everyday cutting task. Here that blade wears a black coating for a stealthy, non-reflective look and added wear resistance. The reverse tanto profile is the signature of the Osborne design: it places a strong, acute point exactly where you need it for piercing and detail work while keeping a long, useful straight edge for everyday cutting.

The automatic AXIS mechanism is what sets the 9400 apart from the manual 940. Pull the AXIS bar and the blade fires open fast and locks solid — fully ambidextrous, with the same secure AXIS lock-up Benchmade is known for. The green anodized aluminum handle is the iconic original Osborne colorway: slim, light, and rigid, with the comfortable ergonomics that built the design’s devoted following.
