The ESEE Ashley Game Knife (AGK) is a full-tang hunting knife designed by hunting guide Ashley Emerson, drawing on his decades of hunting big and small game from Alaska to Africa. This original version pairs a 3.5″ black oxide 1095 drop-point blade with gray canvas Micarta scales and a brown leather belt sheath.
1095 carbon steel is a classic hunting steel: tough, easy to sharpen in the field, and dependable when processing game. ESEE runs it at 55-57 HRC. The 0.156″ thick, flat-ground drop-point blade gives you a controllable tip for careful cuts around game and enough belly for skinning, and the black oxide finish helps protect it. Weatherproof canvas Micarta scales hold their grip when wet or bloody.
- Blade: 3.5″ 1095 carbon steel drop point, black oxide finish, flat grind, plain edge, full tang, 0.156″ thick, 55-57 HRC. 8.25″ overall.
- Handle: Weatherproof gray canvas Micarta for a secure grip in wet conditions. 4.75″ handle length.
- Sheath: Brown leather belt sheath included.
- Carry: 5.1 oz.
Ideal for: deer and big game hunters who field dress their own animals; hunters who prefer a classic carbon steel blade and leather sheath; and anyone who wants a knife designed from a professional hunting guide’s field experience.
Care: 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless. The black oxide finish helps protect the blade but can wear at contact points, and the edge is bare steel. Clean and dry the knife after field dressing, keep it lightly oiled, and let the leather sheath dry fully before storing the knife in it.
ESEE Ashley Game Knife: Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about the ESEE Ashley Game Knife in 1095 with gray Micarta (ESEE-AGK).
What kind of blade and sheath does the Ashley Game Knife have?
It is a full-tang fixed blade with a 3.5-inch 1095 carbon steel drop-point blade, 0.156 inch thick, hardened to 55-57 HRC, with a black oxide finish, a flat grind, and a plain edge. It comes with a brown leather belt sheath.
What is included with the Ashley Game Knife?
The knife comes with its brown leather belt sheath. Contents are subject to change by the manufacturer.
Who designed the Ashley Game Knife?
The AGK was designed by Ashley Emerson, a professional hunting guide with decades of experience hunting big and small game from Alaska to Africa. ESEE built the knife around his field experience processing game.
Should I choose the 1095 or CPM S35VN Ashley Game Knife?
Choose this original 1095 version if you prefer a classic carbon steel that is easy to sharpen in the field, paired with a leather sheath. Choose CPM S35VN if you want a stainless blade that needs less maintenance in wet weather, with 3D-contoured handle scales and a Kydex sheath.
How do I care for the 1095 blade and leather sheath?
1095 is carbon steel, not stainless. The black oxide finish helps protect the blade but can wear at contact points, and the edge is bare steel, so clean and dry the knife after field dressing and keep a light coat of oil on it. If the leather sheath gets wet, let it dry naturally away from direct heat before storing the knife in it, and treat it occasionally with a leather conditioner.
What warranty does the Ashley Game Knife have, and where is it made?
ESEE describes its warranty as one of the most extensive available. Contact ESEE or visit eseeknives.com for current warranty terms and service. The Ashley Game Knife is made in the USA.
