ESEE-4 – 4.5″ 440C Stainless Steel Stonewash Drop Point Blade, Canvas Micarta Handle – ESEE-4P-MB-SS

The ESEE-4 is an all-around survival, bushcraft, and outdoor fixed blade designed by Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin. This stainless version pairs a 4.5″ stonewashed 440C stainless steel drop-point blade with removable canvas Micarta handle scales and an ambidextrous black molded sheath with a MOLLE back.

440C stainless steel is a classic high-chromium stainless that resists rust and staining better than carbon steel, which makes it a good fit for wet climates, saltwater, or anyone who wants less maintenance. The stonewash finish helps hide scratches from everyday use. The flat-ground plain edge gives you 4.1″ of cutting edge on a 1.25″ wide blade, and the removable canvas Micarta scales, rounded pommel, and lanyard hole make the handle easy to clean and maintain.

• Blade: 4.5″ 440C stainless steel drop point, stonewash finish, flat grind, plain edge, 4.1″ cutting edge, 1.25″ blade width.
• Handle: Removable canvas Micarta scales with a rounded pommel and lanyard hole.
• Sheath: Ambidextrous black molded sheath with a MOLLE back.
• Carry: 8.0 oz, mounts on a belt, pack, or MOLLE gear.

Ideal for: outdoor users in wet or coastal environments who want a low-maintenance ESEE-4; anglers, boaters, and paddlers who need a corrosion-resistant fixed blade; and ESEE fans who want removable handle scales for easy cleaning.

Stainless steel notice: ESEE notes that 440C stainless is not as flexible as carbon steel, and excessive flexing of the blade may cause breakage. ESEE does not warranty its stainless steel knives against abuse the way it does its carbon steel models. Use this knife for cutting, not prying.

Care: 440C resists rust well but is not rustproof. Rinse off salt or acidic residue, dry the blade after use, and add a light coat of oil before long-term storage.

ESEE-4 Stainless (440C): Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about the ESEE-4 with a stonewashed 440C stainless blade, removable canvas Micarta, and black MOLLE-back sheath (ESEE-4P-MB-SS).

What kind of blade and sheath does this ESEE-4 have?

It is a fixed blade with a 4.5-inch 440C stainless steel drop-point blade with a stonewash finish, a flat grind, a plain edge, 4.1 inches of cutting edge, and a 1.25-inch blade width. It comes with an ambidextrous black molded sheath with a MOLLE back.

What is included with this ESEE-4?

The knife comes with its ambidextrous black molded sheath with a MOLLE back, a sheath instruction sheet, and a survival business card, packaged in a plastic bag. Contents are subject to change by the manufacturer.

Should I choose 440C stainless or 1095 carbon steel?

Choose 440C stainless if you want better rust resistance and less maintenance, especially around water or in humid climates. Choose a 1095 carbon steel ESEE-4 if you want more flexibility for hard use such as batoning and prying. ESEE notes that 440C is not as flexible as carbon steel and that excessive flexing may break the blade.

Are the handle scales removable?

Yes. The canvas Micarta scales are removable, which makes it easier to clean under the handle and maintain the knife. The handle also has a rounded pommel and a lanyard hole.

How do I care for a 440C stainless blade?

440C resists rust well but is not rustproof. Rinse off salt water or acidic residue, dry the blade after use, and add a light coat of oil before long-term storage. Use the knife for cutting rather than prying to avoid stressing the blade.

What warranty does the stainless ESEE-4 have, and where is it made?

ESEE describes its warranty as one of the most extensive available, but notes that it does not warranty its stainless steel knives against abuse the way it does its carbon steel models. Contact ESEE or visit eseeknives.com for current warranty terms and service. The ESEE-4 is made in the USA.
