ESEE-5 – 5.25″ 1095 OD Green Plain Edge Drop Point Blade, Tan Micarta Handle (Knife Only) – ESEE-5P-KO-OD-E

ESEE says the ESEE-5 was designed by military SERE instructors as a downed pilot’s survival knife: a heavy-duty tool for prying, cutting, and chopping in remote or emergency conditions. This knife-only version pairs a 5.25″ OD Green 1095 blade with a full plain edge and tan Micarta handle scales. No sheath is included.

1095 carbon steel is a classic choice for hard-use survival knives: tough, easy to sharpen in the field, and forgiving under heavy use. ESEE runs it at 55-57 HRC. At 0.25″ thick with a saber grind, the ESEE-5 is built for strength in prying and chopping, and the full plain edge keeps sharpening simple. Every ESEE-5 also has a sharpened glass breaker pommel and a bow drill divot in the handle for fire making.

• Blade: 5.25″ 1095 carbon steel drop point, OD Green finish, saber grind, plain edge, 0.25″ thick, 55-57 HRC. 11.00″ overall.
• Handle: Tan Micarta with a bow drill divot and a sharpened glass breaker pommel. 5.75″ handle length.
• Sheath: None. This is a knife-only listing.
• Carry: 16.00 oz. Pair it with a sheath made for the standard ESEE-5.

Ideal for: ESEE-5 owners who already have a sheath they want to use; buyers planning a custom Kydex or leather sheath; and anyone who wants a spare heavy-duty survival knife for a vehicle or second kit.

Glass breaker: Laws on knives with glass breakers and similar tools vary. Check your local laws and use this tool lawfully.

Care: 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless. The OD Green finish helps protect the blade, but the edge and any worn areas can rust or patina. Keep the knife dry and lightly oiled, and store it safely until it has a sheath.

Knife only; no sheath included.

ESEE-5 Knife Only, OD Green: Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about the ESEE-5 Knife Only with a plain-edge OD Green blade and tan Micarta (ESEE-5P-KO-OD-E).

What kind of blade does this ESEE-5 have?

It is a fixed blade with a 5.25-inch 1095 carbon steel drop-point blade, 0.25 inch thick, hardened to 55-57 HRC, with an OD Green finish, a saber grind, and a plain edge. It comes without a sheath.

What is included with the ESEE-5 Knife Only?

This listing includes the knife only. No sheath is included. Contents are subject to change by the manufacturer.

What sheath should I use with this knife?

Use a sheath made for the standard ESEE-5, or have a custom Kydex or leather sheath made for it. Sheaths for the ESEE-5 3D Handle versions may not fit, because their handles differ.

What are the glass breaker pommel and bow drill divot for?

The sharpened pommel at the end of the handle works as a glass breaker, and the divot in the handle can serve as a bearing block for a bow drill when making fire. Laws on knives with glass breakers and similar tools vary, so check your local laws and use the tool lawfully.

Can I buy this knife with a sheath?

Yes. The same plain-edge OD Green blade and tan Micarta handle come with a sheath as the ESEE-5POD-017. For a partially serrated OD Green blade with a black Kydex sheath, choose the ESEE-5S-OD-E.

How do I care for the 1095 blade, and what warranty does it have?

1095 is carbon steel, not stainless, so wipe the knife dry after use and keep a light coat of oil on it. The OD Green finish helps protect the blade, but the edge and any worn areas can rust or patina if left wet. ESEE describes its warranty as one of the most extensive available; contact ESEE or visit eseeknives.com for current terms and service. The ESEE-5 is made in the USA.
