ESEE-4 – 4.50″ 1095 Desert Tan Plain Edge Drop Point Blade, Tan Micarta Handle – ESEE-4P-MB-DT

The ESEE-4 is one of ESEE’s most popular survival knives, sized to handle heavy camp work while staying light enough for the trail. This version pairs a 4.50″ Desert Tan 1095 drop-point blade with a full plain edge, tan Micarta handle scales, and an OD Green polymer sheath with a MOLLE back.

1095 carbon steel is a classic choice for survival knives: tough, easy to sharpen in the field, and forgiving under hard use. ESEE runs it at 55-57 HRC. The 0.188″ thick blade stock stands up to batoning, while the tall flat grind keeps the edge thin enough for clean slicing in camp and when processing game. The tan Micarta scales have a warm, textured feel that grips well in the hand.

• Blade: 4.50″ 1095 carbon steel drop point, Desert Tan finish, tall flat grind, plain edge, 0.188″ thick, 55-57 HRC. 9.00″ overall.
• Handle: Tan Micarta for a secure, natural grip. 4.50″ handle length.
• Sheath: Injection-molded OD Green polymer sheath with a MOLLE back.
• Carry: 8.00 oz, mounts on a belt, pack, or MOLLE gear.

Ideal for: hunters and campers who want a mid-size knife for batoning and slicing; preppers and outdoor users who want MOLLE-compatible mounting on a pack or vest; and buyers who want a matched Desert Tan and tan colorway.

Care: 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless. The Desert Tan finish helps protect the blade, but the edge and any worn areas can rust or patina. Keep the knife dry and lightly oiled.

ESEE-4 Desert Tan, Plain Edge, MOLLE-Back Sheath: Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about the ESEE-4 with a plain-edge Desert Tan blade, tan Micarta, and OD Green MOLLE-back sheath (ESEE-4P-MB-DT).

What kind of blade and sheath does this ESEE-4 have?

It is a fixed blade with a 4.50-inch 1095 carbon steel drop-point blade, 0.188 inch thick, hardened to 55-57 HRC, with a Desert Tan finish, a tall flat grind, and a plain edge. It comes with an injection-molded OD Green polymer sheath with a MOLLE back.

What is included with this ESEE-4?

The knife comes with its OD Green polymer sheath with a MOLLE back. Contents are subject to change by the manufacturer.

What does the MOLLE back on the sheath do?

A MOLLE back lets you mount the sheath to the webbing found on many packs, vests, and tactical gear, in addition to belt carry. That gives you more options for where the knife rides.

Which Desert Tan ESEE-4 should I choose?

All Desert Tan ESEE-4 versions pair the Desert Tan blade with tan Micarta and an OD Green sheath. This version has a plain edge and a MOLLE-back sheath. The ESEE-4P-DT is the same knife with a standard sheath, the ESEE-4S-MB-DT adds a partially serrated edge with a MOLLE back, and the ESEE-4S-DT has a partially serrated edge with a standard sheath.

Will the 1095 carbon steel blade rust?

It can. 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless, so it needs more care than stainless steels. The Desert Tan finish helps protect the blade, but the edge and any worn areas can rust or patina if left wet. Wipe the knife dry after use and keep a light coat of oil on it.

What warranty does the ESEE-4 have, and where is it made?

ESEE describes its warranty as one of the most extensive available. Contact ESEE or visit eseeknives.com for current warranty terms and service. The ESEE-4 is made in the USA.
