ESEE-3 Fixed Blade (Modified Pommel) – 3.88″ OD Green 1095 Partially Serrated Drop Point Blade, Orange G-10 Handle – ESEE-3SM-MB-OD-CO

The ESEE-3 Modified Pommel is an all-purpose outdoor, bushcraft, and survival fixed blade, built to be tough while staying compact and lightweight. This version pairs a 3.88″ OD Green 1095 drop-point blade with a partially serrated edge, high-visibility orange G-10 handle scales with a modified pommel, and an injection-molded sheath with a MOLLE back.

1095 carbon steel is a classic outdoor steel: tough, easy to sharpen in the field, and dependable under hard use. ESEE runs it at 55-57 HRC. The 1/8″ thick, flat-ground blade slices thin for processing game and making tinder, while the partially serrated section near the handle helps cut through cordage, webbing, and other tough, fibrous materials. The modified pommel gives the handle a distinct profile and a slightly shorter overall length, and the bright orange handle makes the knife easier to spot if you set it down in leaves or brush.

• Blade: 3.88″ 1095 carbon steel drop point, OD Green finish, flat grind, partially serrated edge, 0.125″ thick, 55-57 HRC. 8.19″ overall.
• Handle: Orange G-10 with a modified pommel, compact and comfortable, with high visibility in the field. 4.31″ handle length.
• Sheath: Injection-molded sheath with a MOLLE back.
• Carry: 5.2 oz, mounts on a belt or MOLLE gear.

Ideal for: bushcrafters and survival trainees who want a compact, all-purpose fixed blade; hunters who want a high-visibility handle that is easy to find if dropped; and ESEE-3 fans who prefer the modified pommel profile.

Care: 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless. The OD Green finish helps protect the blade, but the edge and any worn areas can rust or patina. Keep the knife dry and lightly oiled.

ESEE-3 Modified Pommel, OD Green and Orange G-10: Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about the ESEE-3 Modified Pommel with an OD Green partially serrated blade and orange G-10 (ESEE-3SM-MB-OD-CO).

What kind of blade and sheath does this ESEE-3 have?

It is a fixed blade with a 3.88-inch 1095 carbon steel drop-point blade, 0.125 inch thick, hardened to 55-57 HRC, with an OD Green finish, a flat grind, and a partially serrated edge. It comes with an injection-molded sheath with a MOLLE back.

What is included with this ESEE-3?

The knife comes with its injection-molded sheath with a MOLLE back. Contents are subject to change by the manufacturer.

How is the modified pommel different from the standard ESEE-3?

The modified pommel gives the handle a distinct profile and makes the knife slightly shorter: 8.19 inches overall with a 4.31-inch handle, compared with 8.31 inches and 4.43 inches on the standard version. The OD Green blade, orange G-10 handle, and sheath are otherwise the same.

How do I use and sharpen the partially serrated edge?

The plain section toward the tip handles clean slicing and carving, while the serrated section near the handle grips and saws through rope, cordage, and webbing. Sharpen the plain section as usual, and use a tapered ceramic rod or a sharpening system with corner edges for the serrations, working only the beveled side.

Will the 1095 carbon steel blade rust?

It can. 1095 is carbon steel, not stainless, so it needs more care than stainless steels. The OD Green finish helps protect the blade, but the edge and any worn areas can rust or patina if left wet. Wipe the knife dry after use and keep a light coat of oil on it.

What warranty does the ESEE-3 have, and where is it made?

ESEE describes its warranty as one of the most extensive available. Contact ESEE or visit eseeknives.com for current warranty terms and service. The ESEE-3 is made in the USA.
