Muela GRED-12A Hunting Knife – 4.70″ X50CrMoV15 Stainless Steel Satin Clip Point Plain Edge Blade, Ram Horn Handle with Brass Guard – 02MU226

The Gredos range is named for the Sierra de Gredos, a mountain range in central Spain where hunters have worked large game for generations. The Muela GRED-12A is built to that standard: a full-sized Spanish hunting knife with a 4.70″ blade, natural ram horn handle, and solid brass guard — the materials and proportions that have defined European hunting knife tradition since before synthetic alternatives existed.

The blade is ground from X50CrMoV15 — the molybdenum-vanadium stainless steel that Muela calls “MoVa” and has trusted across their hunting line for decades. At 57–58 HRC, it delivers solid corrosion resistance, reliable edge retention for field processing tasks, and a blade that responds well on standard sharpening stones. The clip point geometry keeps the tip controlled and precise — exactly what hunters need when working around joints and connective tissue on large game. The satin finish eliminates glare in the field without requiring the care of a bare polished blade.

The guard is solid brass — an element that defines the traditional European hunting knife silhouette and separates hand from blade during hard work. The ram horn scales deliver natural grip character that improves with use: horn gains traction in wet hands, warms to the touch, and develops a patina unique to each knife. Muela has worked natural horn handles in-house since 1952, and that expertise shows in how the GRED-12A feels in the hand from the first draw.
