Muela Colibri – 2.87″ X50CrMoV15 Stainless Satin Plain Edge Blade, Green Maple Wood Handle with Brass Bolster – 02MU199

The best knives for detail work are often the smallest ones — and the Muela Colibri COL-7.TO makes that case with precision. At 2.87″ of X50CrMoV15 stainless steel in a full-tang fixed blade weighing just 2.89 oz, this compact hunting and outdoor knife is built for the controlled, precise cuts that larger blades cannot deliver — caping, detail field dressing, and fine outdoor tasks where blade size and hand control matter as much as steel quality. The shimmering green maple wood handle with brass bolster, rivets, and lanyard hole make it one of the most visually distinctive compact fixed blades Muela produces. Every grain pattern is unique. Every one looks like it was made for you specifically.

Despite its compact dimensions, the Colibri is built full-tang — one continuous piece of steel from blade tip through handle, providing structural integrity that distinguishes a genuine working knife from a novelty piece at this size. The blade is ground from X50CrMoV15 stainless steel — Muela’s high-alloy stainless whose chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium chemistry delivers solid corrosion resistance, consistent edge retention under field use, and a sharpenability profile that responds readily to ceramic rods and fine stones. The “subtly bulbous” blade profile described by Muela refers to a slight curve through the blade’s cross-section — a geometry that adds blade rigidity and cutting control at the compact 2.87″ length while maintaining the versatility needed for detailed hunting tasks and general outdoor use. At 0.12″ blade thickness, the Colibri’s geometry is optimized for slicing precision rather than heavy cutting authority — the right trade-off for a compact detail knife. The green maple wood handle is stabilized for moisture resistance and dimensional stability, with a natural grain pattern that varies between individual pieces — no two Colibris look exactly alike, which is a genuine production characteristic worth calling out to collectors and gift buyers.

Ideal For

The Muela Colibri COL-7.TO 02MU199 is purpose-built for hunters and field dressers who want a compact, lightweight fixed blade specifically for caping, fine skinning, and detail work where a full-size hunting knife is too large for precision — the 2.87″ blade and 2.89 oz weight deliver control that larger blades cannot match for these tasks. It is equally well-suited for knife collectors and gift buyers who appreciate genuinely individual pieces — the unique green maple wood grain, brass hardware, and Muela’s Trophy-adjacent craftsmanship make the Colibri COL-7.TO a fixed blade that stands out in any collection and arrives as a genuinely thoughtful gift.
