Muela Lobo – 9.06″ MoVa Stainless Satin Plain Edge Blade, Stag Horn Handle with Stainless Guard & Pommel – 02MU045

Two pounds of Spanish Bowie. The Muela Lobo 23-S does not make subtle introductions — at 32.13 oz, 14.57″ overall, with a 9.06″ molybdenum-vanadium stainless steel blade at 0.20″ stock, stainless guard and pommel, and a genuine stag horn handle accented with a traditional rosette, this is Muela’s flagship Bowie built to be used hard, admired long, and eventually passed on. It is a working tool with the credentials of a collector’s piece, and a collector’s piece with the construction to back it up.

The Lobo 23-S is full-tang — one continuous piece of steel from tip to pommel — which gives the knife the structural foundation its scale demands. The 9.06″ blade is ground from MoVa stainless steel (X50CrMoV15 / 1.4446) — Muela’s high-alloy stainless hardened to 56–58 HRC, a heat treatment window that balances toughness and edge retention at the higher end of practical field use. The molybdenum and vanadium additions deliver corrosion resistance for outdoor environments, consistent edge behavior under heavy cutting loads, and a sharpenability profile that responds well to ceramic rods and quality whetstones. At 0.20″ blade thickness — approaching the heaviest stock in the Muela lineup — the Lobo’s blade geometry is built for sustained authority: chopping, heavy field tasks, and the kind of demanding big-game work that smaller blades approach with caution. The Bowie clip-point profile maximizes cutting belly while keeping the tip strong and controlled. The stainless steel pommel is not merely aesthetic — the description specifically confirms it can be used for light striking in survival situations, a practical detail that reflects the Lobo’s dual identity as a serious outdoor tool. The traditional rosette accent on the stag horn handle connects the knife to the heritage of Spanish blade-making without compromising a single performance specification.

Ideal For

The Muela Lobo 23-S 02MU045 is the right knife for serious big-game hunters and backcountry outdoorsmen who want a full-size flagship Bowie with the blade length, stock thickness, and mass to handle the heaviest field tasks — processing large game, sustained chopping, and the full range of demanding outdoor work where a smaller knife asks you to make concessions.
