Morakniv Amberg Full Flat Hunting (S) – 4.25″ 14C28N Stainless Steel Full Flat Plain Edge Blade, TPE Handle – 14700

The Morakniv Amberg Full Flat Hunting (S) is a stainless hunting knife made in Mora, Sweden, for skinning, field dressing, and processing game, with a full flat grind that also handles camp cooking and light carving.

14C28N is a Swedish stainless steel from Alleima, hardened and cryogenically treated to 58 HRC. It is known for taking a fine edge, sharpening easily, and resisting rust, which suits a knife that will be cleaned often after contact with blood and moisture. The 4.25″ blade has a full flat grind with a secondary bevel, inspired by kitchen knives, for low friction and clean, controlled cuts when skinning and dressing game.

• Blade: 4.25″ (108 mm) 14C28N stainless steel, full flat grind with secondary bevel, 0.13″ (3.2 mm) thick, 58 HRC, plain edge, polished spine. 9.0″ overall.
• Handle: TPE over a PP core, with a flatter shape and narrower front for a pinch grip, spine ridges for precision work, a finger guard, and a lanyard hole.
• Sheath: Ambidextrous burnt orange Click-On sheath with belt loop, plus a Click-On Mount for attaching the knife to a pack, bike, ATV, boat, or other gear.
• Carry: Left- or right-side belt carry, or mounted on gear. 5.68 oz.

Ideal for: deer and big game hunters who skin and field dress their own animals; hunters and anglers who want one knife for the field and the camp kitchen; and outdoor cooks who prefer a thin, low-friction blade.

Note: The polished spine is not designed for use with a ferro rod.

Morakniv Amberg Full Flat Hunting (S): Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about the Morakniv Amberg Full Flat Hunting (S) (14700).

What kind of blade and sheath does the Amberg Full Flat Hunting have?

It is a fixed blade with a 4.25-inch 14C28N stainless steel blade, 3.2 mm thick, hardened and cryogenically treated to 58 HRC, with a full flat grind and secondary bevel. It comes with an ambidextrous burnt orange Click-On sheath and belt loop.

What is included with the Amberg Full Flat Hunting?

The knife comes with its Click-On sheath, belt loop, and one Click-On Mount. Extra Click-On Mounts are sold separately. Contents are subject to change by the manufacturer.

How is this different from the standard Amberg (S)?

The Amberg Full Flat Hunting uses 14C28N steel with a full flat grind for low-friction skinning and food prep, and its spine is polished. The standard Amberg (S) uses 12C27 steel with a Scandi grind for carving and has a ferro rod-compatible spine.

Can I use the Amberg Full Flat Hunting with a ferro rod?

No. Morakniv notes that this knife is not ferro rod compatible because its spine is polished. If you need a ferro rod-compatible spine, the Scandi-ground Amberg models are designed for it.

How do I clean the knife after field dressing?

The 14C28N blade is stainless, so it handles blood and moisture well. Rinse the knife with warm water after use, clean the handle and sheath, and dry everything fully before storing the knife in its sheath.

What warranty does the Amberg have, and where is it made?

Morakniv offers a lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, with proof of purchase. Contact your authorized retailer first for warranty claims. The Amberg is made in Mora, Sweden.
